ASYMCA of Alaska offers a variety of pop-up programs in and around the JBER area. These programs are subject to change year-to-year.  Scroll below to see our current pop-up programs in the JBER area!

Back-to-School Snack Bash

Ready for back to school? Stop by your ASYMCA Welcome Center to fill a provided bag with your favorite snacks from our Snack Bash table! This is a drop-in program, no registration needed. Supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Powered by the Wounded Warrior Project.

  • Date: August 13
  • Time: Doors open at 1:00 p.m. We will continue to provide snacks until 4:00 p.m. or until supplies last.
  • Location: ASYMCA Welcome Centers (10449 Luke Ave., JBER)
  • Who: Military families with children in grades K-12. Kids must be present.

Ocean Fishing with Hofstad Fishing Co.

Fish for salmon in the open ocean! Our guides from Hofstad Fishing Company will take us out on a saltwater adventure where you’ll learn ocean fishing techniques, how to reel in salmon, and tips for handling your catch. Alaska fishing license required. Transportation and lodging not provided.

Salmon Fishing Day Trip with Mark Glassmaker

Fish for salmon on the Kenai River! We’ll take a powerboat to productive gravel bars where guides will provide hands-on instruction on how to fish for and catch salmon, care for your catch, identify fishing spots, and tie basic knots. Alaska fishing license required. Transportation and lodging not provided.

Popsicles in the Park Meetups

Join the ASYMCA and other military families as we visit different local parks and enjoy popsicles! Held at rotating parks throughout the installations on select Tuesdays from 2:00-4:00 p.m. No registration required.
