Alaska
The ASYMCA of Alaska strives to make deployments easier for military families. Custom quilts and pillowcases are available to children of deployed service members.
Each quilt or pillowcase features photos submitted by parent/guardians and is handmade with love by volunteers.
Kid Comfort is a year-round, statewide program.
Kid Comfort is a program for children ages 0–18 of deployed service members of any rank and service branch. Service members must be stationed in Alaska during the time of deployment. Click here if you are stationed outside of Alaska.
If your military family does not meet the deployment criteria, but is otherwise subject to separation from your service member for six (6) consecutive months or more, please contact us to inquire about eligibility.
Requests must be submitted by an active duty, guard, or reserve service member with current orders to deploy, or by one of their immediate family members.
Quilts and pillowcases are provided at no cost to families. One quilt/pillowcase per child, please.
When submitting a request, be prepared to submit photos of the deploying service member. We suggest choosing photos that capture memories your child can relate to: family activities, the service member on duty or off, etc.
Please make sure the photos you submit are high-quality enough that they will print clear and sharp at approximately 8″ x 10″.
Completed projects must be picked up at ASYMCA offices on JBER, Fort Wainwright, or Eielson Air Force Base. Shipping is unavailable.
Volunteers make Kid Comfort possible! Visit our volunteer page or contact our ASYMCA office at welcome.center@akasymca.org to learn about volunteer opportunities.
