JBER Pop-Up Programs

ASYMCA of Alaska offers a variety of pop-up programs in and around the JBER area. These programs are subject to change year-to-year.  Scroll below to see our current pop-up programs in the JBER area! 2024 autumn pop-ups run September–November.

College Tour Scholarship (Statewide)

The ASYMCA is partnering with Alaska Airlines and Global Credit Union Foundation to send two military teenagers and their adults to do a college tour.

Interested applicants must submit a 1-minute video that shares their goals, what college(s) they want to visit, why they want this opportunity, and if any circumstances are preventing them from visiting the school. They should also mention which parent/guardian/adult will be accompanying them.

All applications will be reviewed by a task force made up of ASYMCA of Alaska board members. Two applicants will be selected.

  • Application Period: Applicants will be accepted November 1–15, 2024.
  • Who: Military teens (grades 10-11) of active duty military currently stationed in Alaska with the ranks E3-E7
  • Award: 2 round-trip airline tickets to the destination of the school visit.* A $500 stipend will be provided to help offset additional travel costs.
  • Video Specifics: Videos should be 60 seconds or fewer and submitted in an .mp4 or .mov format.
  • Note: While not required, the ASYMCA would like to “come along” on the visit through social media and story sharing. If selected, applicants will have the opportunity to speak with the ASYMCA marketing team on story sharing logistics.

*Must be a location serviced by Alaska Airlines.

Teacher Shop Day

Local teachers shop for no cost on September 7 at the ASYMCA Bargain Shops on JBER! Simply present your teacher ID, grab a bag, and fill it with whatever you need for a successful school year. Bags provided. One bag per teacher. Teacher ID required. Must have base access.
