Enjoy all that our beautiful state offers! 500 Hours of Play in AK is a self-paced challenge that runs January 2–December 31, 2023. Prizes will be awarded throughout! This program is available at no cost to all service members and military families based in Alaska. Registration is going on now.

This program is made possible by a grant from the Healthy Communities program of the Alaska Community Foundation.

Program Details

Registration is available now through December 31, 2023, at no cost to service members and military families based in Alaska.

Earn a prize for every 100 hours spent outdoors!

Prizes are available to all participants who complete 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 hours of outdoor times. Email events@akasymca.org to collect your prize.

Met your first 100 hours? Enjoy a fun beverage on us from Soda & S’mores (Anchorage) or Sunrise Bagel & Espresso (Fairbanks)!

Any activity that gets you outdoors counts toward your 500 hours!

Want to collect hours with other 500 Hours of Play participants? ASYMCA is hosting several events just for 500 Hours of Play participants! Registration is required.

  • July 16: 3/4 Day Salmon Fishing with Chadwick’s Fishing Guide Service & Danika from Girl in Alaska ($100/person; open to active duty female service members. Must be registered for 500 Hours of Play.)
  • WAITLIST July 27: 1/2 Kenai Sockeye Fishing with Mark Glassmaker from Alaska Fishing ($100/person; open to female spouses of active duty military. Must be registered for 500 Hours of Play.)
